Tech Help Appointments

The Elting Memorial Library is pleased to offer our patrons Tech Help appointments with certified Digital Navigators.

These one-on-one appointments are designed to help familiarize patrons with common computer and internet functions in order to encourage digital literacy in our community.

Digital Navigators are trusted guides who assist community members in adoption and use of computing devices. Digital Navigation services include ongoing assistance with affordable Internet access, device acquisition, technical skills, and application support.

Tech Help appointments can cover the following:

  • Basic computer skills

  • OverDrive/Libby for eBooks and downloadable audiobooks

  • Library resources such as online databases, Hoopla, Kanopy, Mango, etc.

  • Email/Internet basics

  • Social media

  • Office productivity software (e.g. word processing, spreadsheets, presentations)

  • Usage of patron-owned devices such as eReaders, tablets, and smartphones

  • Other computer or technology-related questions

Tech Help appointment policies are as follows:

  • Appointments can be between 30-60 minutes depending on the topic.

  • Appointments are made based on your preferred time and staff availability.

  • Library staff cannot be held responsible for damage to patron-owned equipment.

Tech Help appointments can be booked by emailing frontdesk@eltinglibrary.org , calling 845-255-5030 ext. 2, or by making an appointment online.

If possible, please contact us one week prior to request an appointment. Provide a brief description of your technology needs, your electronic device or devices, and your general level of familiarity with the device. On the day of your appointment, please make sure to bring any passwords, devices, cables, and manuals you may need.

We will do our best to accommodate all requests but retain the right to say no if something is beyond our capabilities. We are not here to do the work for you - we are here to try and teach the skills you need and possibly learn something new together.
