VOLUNTEERS
Many thanks to our returning volunteers and welcome to newcomers! We could not run the fair without you.
-
Friday
Work alongside SUNY Athletics volunteers moving book boxes from the shed out to the book tents, placing them on the labeled tables according to the categories on the boxes. Once the shed is unloaded, return the empty boxes with their fitted lids from the tables back to the shed, stacking them as directed back inside the shed. -
Friday
Spread out among the labeled tables to unpack books as boxes of them are brought out, arranging books on tables by category, spines up, so that titles are visible and facing the same way. Emptied boxes need their correct lids replaced on them, and then they should be placed on the far side of the railing that leads up to the library for their return to the bookshed after setup. -
Saturday/Sunday
Two cashiers/baggers work as a team dividing up the tasks of totaling the amount due, taking payment, getting ID for checks, making change, and bagging the books. -
Saturday/Sunday
Keep all book tables and shelves neat, stocked, and organized, consolidating sections as books get sold. Answer customer questions and bring things to and from cashier stations as needed.

We have a very exciting musical line-up and wish to thank all the performers for generously donating their time and talents to benefit the Elting Memorial Library and for helping to make the Fair such a special event for the New Paltz community.
9-10 AM: Jim Bacon: Jim is a town justice, triathlete, and classically trained guitarist who has played throughout the Hudson Valley. He has generously donated his musical talents to the Library Fair for many years and we are very lucky to have him back to open the day.
10-11 AM: Steve Raleigh: Steve is a world class guitarist, composer, arranger, producer, and music educator with “a brilliant sense of melody,” per Guitar World magazine. To listen to Steve’s music and find out more, visit https://steveraleigh.com/
11am-noon: Dennis Rush: Dennis is an accomplished poet, artist and musician who has set well-loved poems, including a Shakespearean sonnet, to music flavored with Appalachian musical overtones influenced by his roots in Kentucky; you can check Dennis out at https://dennisrush.bandcamp.com/album/poetry-songs
12-1 PM: Dandy Lions: A not-to-be-missed brother and sister duo whose music features soul-searching pop melodies and punchy folk-rock sounds, supported by their musically talented family and friends; their latest album is called “under the walnut tree.” Check them out at https://dandylionsinthedollhouse.bandcamp.com and on Instagram at @wearedandylions
1-2 PM: Leslie Abdallah: Leslie is a perennial Fair favorite, especially with children. She is
a Music Together teacher and an actress, singer, and dancer who graduated from New York University in Music and Dance. Leslie recorded her first lullaby CD called “Daffodil Dreams” and an original children’s CD called “Sunflower Smiles”. Her children Abey and Geoffrey are an inspiration for her music; Visit Leslie at https://www.facebook.com/p/Leslie-Abdallah-100063546982479/?_rdr
2-3 PM: Vickie Russell: Vickie is a powerful performer with a clear, expressive voice and a
relaxed presence that captivates and moves audiences. After performing around the world she has landed here in the Hudson Valley, where the Kingston Freeman describes her music as: “Clear and strong, ranging from lilting to passionate, and her (piano and guitar) playing, likewise, often belies its apparent simplicity with richness of effect. Lyrics are evocative, personal and often spiritual.” Charged with passion and wisdom, her material reflects themes of love, hope and empowerment. Vickie has shared the stage with: the 10,000 Maniacs, Pete Seeger, Rick Danko, Leon Russell, Donovan, David Wilcox, Jill Sobule and was a finalist for the Lilith Fair. A Billboard Songwriting Contest winner, Vickie has been featured on radio and TV worldwide. She recently released her third CD entitled "Next."
